Cookie Policy
This cookie policy explains how PayrollHero (operated by Red Cape HR Software Corp.) uses cookies on https://www.payrollhero.com and the PayrollHero platform, and is part of our Privacy Policy. It also covers, at a basic level, third-party services we use that may set their own cookies — those are not covered by this policy, and we recommend checking each provider's own policy if you want more detail.
If you don't want to accept cookies from us, you can instruct your browser to refuse them, with the understanding that some parts of the platform may not work as intended without them.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of data a website stores on your device when you visit it — typically a unique identifier that lets the site recognize your browser on return visits, along with some data about your preferences and how long the cookie should last.
Types of cookies we use
Essential cookies
Required for core platform functionality — keeping you logged in, maintaining your session as you navigate between pages, and similar functions the platform can't work without.
Performance and analytics cookies
Used to understand how the platform is used in aggregate, so we can identify and fix problems and improve the product over time. We use Segment.io for this purpose.
Functionality cookies
Used to remember settings and preferences (such as language or timezone) so you don't have to reconfigure them on each visit. Our Intercom chat widget, used on the marketing site, also relies on cookies of this kind.
Targeting/advertising cookies
We do not currently use targeting or advertising cookies on our site.
Third-party services that may set cookies
We use a small number of third-party service providers to operate the platform, some of which may set their own cookies as part of delivering their service to us: Amazon Web Services (infrastructure), FreshBooks (billing), Mailgun (email delivery), Intercom (chat, marketing site only), Segment.io (analytics), and Google (maps, sign-in, and bot protection). Cookies set by these providers are governed by their own policies, not this one, since we don't control how they operate.
How you can control or opt out of cookies
Most browsers accept cookies by default, but you can change your settings to refuse them entirely or to be notified when a site tries to set one. If you use multiple devices or browsers, you'll need to update these settings on each one separately.
Blocking some cookies has little impact on your experience of the platform; blocking all of them may mean some features or content don't work correctly.
